Have your say as to whether consenting Donor Families and consenting Recipients should be assisted to meet.  

 

The Draft Ethical Guidelines for Organ and Tissue Donation that almost went through without the benefit of our lived experience is now available.  DFA demanded and received an exclusive extension to the consultation process. 

  

DFA will be asking you, our membership for your thoughts on the guidelines that will affect you and all future Donor Families and Recipients in Australia for the decades to come.

Meanwhile, you have the opportunity to read the DRAFT Guidelines as they currently stand.

This is a MOST important issue impacting on DFA and all Donor Families

Donor Heroes Night

This was DFA's BIGGEST  social media event of 2024

It was also DFA's opportunity to raise organ and tissue donation awareness.

DFA has an entire Page dedicated to Donor Heroes Night where you can find all the information concerning the event, media releases, and Donor Hero Stories.

15 new Stories and a further 170 Donor Heroes are now posted on our Donor Heroes' Wall

The increase in Donor Stories and photos on the Donor Heroes Wall is a direct response to DFA member becoming more engauge with the up-coming Donor Heroes Night on the 18th May

Formed in 2013, Donor Families Australia Inc. is a national member-based independent support and advocacy group comprising families who have donated their loved ones’ organs and tissue. It is the only incorporated organisation of its kind in Australia specifically dedicated to Donor Families.

Membership is free and gives donor families a voice:

​

  • To speak with and to support each other. 

  • To let those who formulate organ and tissue donation policy know what is important to Donor Families.

  • To connect the community to a group that knows the experience of donation so they might come to a true understanding of what it is all about.
